We’re looking for staff members who have a passion and commitment to help people experiencing homelessness, hunger and other difficult life situations. Current open positions are listed below; if there are no current openings, please check back soon!

Please note that as a Christian ministry, our commitment is to provide help and hope through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Because of that, it’s essential that all our employees have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and wholeheartedly subscribe to our mission, vision and core values. MINISTRY POSITION TITLE:                     Special Events Coordinator

REPORTS TO:                                             Director of Communications and Engagement

STATUS:                                                       Part Time – 25 hours a week

Growth potential to full time.

All employees of Bridgeport Rescue Mission are an integral part of the outreach ministry of a non-denominational, evangelical ministry sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through emergency and educational services.  All employees are Christian missionaries and are required from time to time to participate in chapel services, outreach ministries, Bible studies and prayer times.  Because of the nature of these types of ministries, it is an absolute necessity that each employee possesses and maintains a Christian testimony of their faith and experience in Jesus, and a lifestyle that is above reproach.  What an employee does on their own time may seriously affect his/her ability to perform these types of ministries, which are an important part of their job.

PURPOSE OF DEVELOPMENT AT BRIDGEPORT RESCUE MISSION

The purpose of the Development Department is to glorify God as we earnestly seek, aspire to, and demonstrate excellence in the pursuit of God-sized goals through fundraising.

  • BRM’s mission is to fight poverty from the inside out.
  • BRM’s vision is to excel in the provision of food, shelter, clothing, education, job training and residential discipleship for the urban poor and addicted.
  • Our objective in Development is to connect God’s people to God’s work.
  • Our goal in Development is to fundraise and meet the income target each fiscal year by identifying, developing and presenting opportunities for churches, individuals, foundations and businesses to participate in the cycle of giving (gift-in-kind donations, prayer support, volunteer opportunities and financial gifts).
  • Our desire in Development is to capture the hearts of donors by sharing the stories of lives transformed through the love of Christ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Director of Communications and Engagement as well as the Development Team on administrative and development tasks associated with large and small scale special events and special projects including, but not limited to, signature fundraisers, BRM sponsored events, third party events, missions fairs, and, school and business presentations.
  • Work with Director of Communications and Engagement to grow signature events as well as targeted third party events.
  • Work with Director of Communications and Engagement to determine feasibility of adding new events.
  • Coordinate with Development Team to secure event sponsors and attendees.
  • Help manage pre-event and on-site registrations and all event logistics.
  • Work with Marketing Manager on invitations and promotional materials.
  • Become proficient with BRM’s donor management software as the common source of information related to donor relationships and event management.
  • Additional administrative tasks as needed to support Development Team goals.

Professional Skills Required

  • Actively incorporate the spiritual disciplines of worship, bible study, quiet time, prayer, etc. to seek God’s perspective for ministry in the workplace.
  • Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to juggle many different projects and many different types of people at the same time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, when necessary. This ministry position requires some evening, Saturday and Sunday Development commitments.
  • Ability to prioritize the demands of the job and identify the Important from the Urgent.
  • Strong communication, writing and administrative skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and be a team player with other Mission employees and ministry partners such as Brewer Direct to achieve goals of the Mission.
  • Innate curiosity about the ministry of Development by reading appropriate materials, attending appropriate conferences and collaborating with the Development Team.
  • Be trustworthy and demonstrate reliability and dependability.

  • Our goal in Development is to fundraise and meet the income target each fiscal year by identifying, developing and presenting opportunities for churches, individuals, foundations and businesses to participate in the cycle of giving (gift-in-kind donations, prayer support, volunteer opportunities and financial gifts).
  • Our desire in Development is to capture the hearts of donors by sharing the stories of lives transformed through the love of Christ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit, tour, schedule, and nurture Volunteers who are an important part of our development strategy and an entry point into and around the cycle of giving.
  • Work with Director of Communications and Engagement,  Compassion Ministries and other departments to train volunteers for one time and recurring volunteer roles on site and for the Mobile Kitchens.
  • Work with Director of Communications and Engagement to identify new volunteer opportunities and work with other Mission staff on the implementation of these new opportunities.
  • Create and maintain a process to more efficiently and effectively communicate with volunteers, manage volunteer schedules and improve the volunteer engagement experience.
  • Become proficient with the Mission’s donor management software as the common source of information related to all donor relationships.
  • Work closely with the Director of Communications and Engagement, Brewer Direct (Direct Marketing Partner) and other Development Team and Mission staff to successfully leverage BRM’s integrated approach to Development through Volunteers.

Professional Skills Required

  • Actively incorporate the spiritual disciplines of worship, bible study, quiet time, prayer, etc. to seek God’s perspective for ministry in the workplace.
  • Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to juggle many different projects and many different types of people at the same time.
  • Ability to work flexible hours while seizing time off as appropriate (as agreed to with Director of Communications and Engagement ).  This ministry position requires evening, Saturday and Sunday volunteer and donor management commitments.
  • Ability to prioritize the demands of the job and identify the Important from the Urgent.
  • Strong communication, writing and administrative skills.
  • Ability to give tours and plan and conduct volunteer training workshops using a depth of knowledge to explain what we do and why we do it.
  • Ability to discover and creatively match up the goals and objectives of individuals and groups with the goals and objectives of the Mission’s volunteer needs.
  • Ability to collaborate and be a team player with other Mission employees and ministry partners such as Brewer Direct to achieve goals of the Mission.
  • Ability to leverage the power donor management software as a tool for managing information.
  • Innate curiosity about the ministry of Development and Volunteer Management by reading appropriate materials, attending appropriate conferences and collaborating with experts in the field.
