DEVELOPMENT

Position: Senior Communications Manager
Reports to: Chief Revenue Officer
Status: Full-time

The Senior Communications Manager will shape, maintain, and protect Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s image through communications and events. Cultivate a positive public opinion of our organization and increase awareness of our brand.  Manage the flow of information between the Mission and the public with the goal of acquiring new donors and maximizing fundraising.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Mission’s integrated communications strategy through direct mail and digital mass communications, video, website, social media, radio, television, billboards, media relations.
  • Create and maintain brand identity.
  • Design creative live/virtual engagement events that connect God’s people to God’s work and educate supporters about the life-changing work occurring within the Mission programs.

Position: Volunteer Engagement Coordinator
Reports to: Assoc. Dir. Volunteer and Community Engagement
Status: Full-time 

The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit and manage volunteers using our online portal, Volunteer Local. The Coordinator serves as the point person for arranging volunteer serving, special events, and programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Train new volunteers, assign particular tasks, track volunteer hours, provide support, and create all volunteer communication.
  • Engage with and empower volunteers to further the Mission and its ability to serve the community of Coastal Connecticut.

Position: Development Specialist (Grant Writer)
Reports to: Senior Donor Relations Officer
Status: Part-time, 25 hours/week

The Development Specialist (Grant Writer) will maintain and organize the grant pipeline and creation of updated grant materials, including the GrantHub tracking software program.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the grants calendar and update grant/foundation tasks lists.
  • Work closely with the Senior Development Officer and other staff on the Development team to successfully manage, edit, and track grant applications.

COMPASSION

Position: Donation Center Associate
Reports to: Donation Center Manager
Status:  Part-Time, Tuesdays – Saturdays, 25-30 hours/week

Responsibilities:

  • Be the face of BRM, greeting donors and volunteers at the Donation Center, answering questions, and developing relationships
  • Ensure volunteers have a good experience while serving with us
  • Provide gift-in-kind receipts (record donated items/quantity/weight) and look for ways to improve GIK processes
  • Support the Donation Center Mgr. and communicate with the Dir. of Compassion Ministries, including special projects such as Thanksgiving and tag sales
  • Organize food and clothing areas and keep them clean
  • Assemble items for distribution to other BRM sites and dump runs
  • Help track inventory of food and clothing

Requirements:

  • Heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs
  • Be a team player
  • Spend much of the time on your feet
  • Proficient in English

Position: Pantry Associate
Reports to:  Donation Center Manager
Status:  Part-Time, Mondays – Fridays, 25-30 hrs/week

Responsibilities:

  • Be the face of BRM, greeting donors and volunteers at the Care Center, answering questions, and developing relationships
  • Ensure volunteers have a good experience while serving with us
  • Provide gift-in-kind receipts (record donated items/quantity/weight) and look for ways to improve GIK processes
  • Communicate with Compassion Ministries Coordinator & Dir. of Compassion Ministries
  • Keep donations of food and clothing organized in the appropriate places
  • Organize food and clothing areas and keep them clean
  • Assemble items for distribution to other BRM sites and for Pantry
  • Help track inventory of food and clothing

Requirements:

  • Abel to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Be a team player
  • Spend much of the time on your feet
  • Proficient in English

Position: Chef
Reports to: Executive Head Chef
Status:  Part-Time, 25-30 hours/week, flexible schedule, Monday – Sunday

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure volunteers enjoy serving with us
  • Provide gift-in-kind receipts (record donated items/quantity/weight) and look for ways to improve the processes
  • Support the Executive Head Chef in any way possible, including special projects
  • Organize food areas and keep them clean
  • Assemble items for distribution to other BRM sites and dump runs
  • Help track food inventory
  • Kitchen prep work
  • Prepare meals from start to finish

Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Be a team player
  • Spend much of the time on your feet
  • Proficient in English

FINANCE

Position: Accounting Manager
Reports to: 
Chief Financial Officer
Status:
 Full-time

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department, including:

  • month and end-year process
  • accounts payable/receivable
  • cash receipts
  • general ledger
  • payroll and utilities
  • cash forecasting
  • revenue & expenditure variance analysis
  • capital assets reconciliations
  • account statement reconciliations
  • check runs
  • fixed asset activity
  • debt activity

Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements

Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles

Assist in coordinating and completing annual audits

Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions as needed

Establish and maintain files and records

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an Accounting Manager
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel and QuickBooks
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and supervise
  • BS in Accounting
