The 2009 Holidays Brought Hope to HundredsMore than 150 volunteers joined the Bridgeport Rescue Mission staff during the 2009 holidays to provide food for hungry men, women and children. We distributed 1,045 food boxes to low-income and working-poor families in the community and provided thousands of gifts—including winter wear, toys, bus tokens and gifts cards—to our residents and needy neighbors. We’re deeply grateful to United Healthcare and Bridgeport Hospital for their donation of $5,000 to help underwrite our 2009 Thanksgiving Day dinner and other holiday activities. Whether you, your church or your business wants to collect needed food items, volunteer to fill and distribute pantry boxes, or help with the actual holiday preparation, we always need your help! Watch here for ways you can get involved in 2010! |
